Mint

Want to feel like a gardening pro? Grow mint!

Mint spreads! We only plant mint in pots or in a flower bed contained with an edging. It’s very invasive, so should only be planted in the ground if you plan to contain it and maintain it! We never plant mint mixed in our raised bed gardens.

Mint is one of the few edible plants that can grow right in the ground in Houston as long as the area where you’re planting drains well.

Grows best in full sun (needs plenty of water in the summer) or part shade

There are so many fun varieties of mint! Orange mint, apple mint, chocolate mint, spearmint, even pineapple mint!

Mint is yum in cocktails, mocktails, infused water, tea and salads!
