Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from a garden consultation?

During your garden consultation, we will visit your space and discuss your gardening goals! We will work with you to pick out the location for the garden, talk through options for materials, and plan the design that will look best. Following our visit, you will receive an itemized estimate for your new garden space!

What if my space doesn’t get a lot of sun?

When we visit for your consultation, we find the spot that gets the most sun. If there isn’t any full sun area in your yard, that is ok! We can still grow plants that do not require as much sun, like greens and herbs.

I don’t have a lot of yard space. Would I still be able to have a garden?

Not a problem! You don’t need a ton of space for a garden. We can create a raised bed that will fit your space.

If you only have some porch or balcony space we can get you set up with pots or one of our starter garden options.

I have no experience gardening. How will I be successful?

Gardening is a skill that will take time to learn - but we are here to help you every step of the way!

We will get you started with the right set up, which will take away most of the frustration of starting something that feels foreign. After your garden is in, we are here to help as much as you would like.

We post gardening tips sharing what we are doing in our gardens. We also will send out email alerts when irrigation needs to be adjusted with Houston’s climate, or when we are noticing a certain pest in a lot of our gardens so that you can check yours too!

I want a garden for the fresh herbs and vegetables, but I don’t think I have time to keep up with maintaining a garden.

No problem! We offer garden maintenance year round! We do the hard work, you enjoy the harvest!

How much food should I expect to get out of my garden?

Unfortunately, we won’t eliminate trips to the grocery store for you - but you can say goodbye to buying some things, like chives and oregano! We pack all our beds with herbs as most of them grow year round, other veggies will be plentiful in the seasons that they grow. You will always have something that can be harvested from in the garden.

I already have a garden space, but could really use some help. How can y’all help me?

We are here to help you as much as you need! We can stop by for a quick garden coaching session for troubleshooting and inspiration. We also offer garden maintenance, to take the hard work off your shoulders while you enjoy the harvest. Or stop by one of our community events, where we talk about what we are doing in the garden at that time, and answer your questions!

I want to work in the garden myself, but how will I know what to plant?

We love that you are wanting to get your hands in the dirt too! However, figuring out what can be planted and when can be stressful. We are here to help make this easier:

Our 2024 Planting Calendar is available now! It has the exact planting dates our team uses to keep our clients’ gardens thriving in Houston year-round!

We also only sell plants that can be planted in the current season, and we won’t sell you a plant that won’t be able to produce before the next season. What could be easier than getting the right plants (and compost) delivered right to your doorstep? Check out our Linktree for the current order form.

Lastly, we post what we are planting, as well as tips and tricks for those plants on our Instagram feed!

We are here to make this a worthwhile investment in your home and landscaping - and save you the from the frustrations of learning on your own.

Installations generally occur 2 - 6 weeks following deposit. Once your deposit is in, we get started on ordering your materials for your garden. Some bed or landscaping materials take longer than others to manufacture.
