Drip Irrigation: Why we Think it’s the Smartest Way to Water Your Garden

We use drip irrigation in all of our garden designs. Drip irrigation waters the plants at the soil level (near the roots) instead of watering the leaves.

Watering the leaves of plants increases the risk for certain types of diseases and funguses on the foliage. Drip irrigation gets water right where the plants need it – the roots.

Watering at the soil level wastes less water since all the water goes directly to the plant’s root system where it belongs. With drip irrigation, we can also water the garden beds evenly and consistently. Did you know plants love consistency? Plants are smart. They regulate their water needs based on water patterns. Drip irrigation gives plants a way to predict the amount of water they will receive and plan accordingly.

Your drip irrigation will be connected to your existing sprinkler system and control panel so we can control the watering needs of the garden uniquely and separately from your grass and surrounding landscaping.  This means the pipes will be placed underground, underneath the gravel, come up through your garden boxes, and run along the soil level of your garden boxes.  The pipes are completely hidden around the boxes!

With your garden connected to your existing watering system, you can go on vacation or life can get too hectic to think about watering your garden – and guess what – your garden will still get watered!
